There are two types of business owners. The first type owns a business that works for them, the second type owns a business that they work for. The first type makes money when he is away from his business doing other things he loves to do. The second type only makes money when he works long hours in his business, and without him the business would fail. You might chalk this up to chance or circumstance – one business owner has more of the necessary “business owning skills” than the other, or maybe they picked a more profitable venture.

That’s not it though.

There is one single factor that splits small business owners into one of these two categories.

That factor is the presence or lack of systems.

The Gap

It takes guts to leave a secure 9 to 5 and start your own business…create your own lifestyle. You should be proud of yourself for doing what most only dream of…and if you have done this, you know that there is a promise of freedom in entrepreneurship. Time freedom, financial freedom…all sorts of freedom!

So why can it be so elusive?

Of course you knew starting a business would be hard. You’re not naive enough to think that your business will just explode overnight, but it probably will in a year or two right? With a lot of hard work and effort eventually things will get easier, more customers will come, and the business will just take off…won’t it?

Why is it so easy as a business owner to find yourself working FOR your business…a slave to it…truly self-employed, and to feel like your business day is spent reacting to the problems around you, with no plan for how to prevent them in the future? Why is it that your business takes more time and money than it yields?

It should be the other way around. Your business should allow you to take a vacation whenever you want, deposit money into your bank account every day, and inspire you to get up every morning and get at it! You should LOVE what you do. Better yet, your business should be doing so well that you can start using it to give back to your community and the world! You have ONE life on this earth to build a positive legacy!

…Does any of this resonate?

There is a gap between where you are now, and where you want to be.

How do you bridge that gap?

A Systems Approach

A system is a set of principles or procedures according to which something is done; an organized method. Where there is a lack of systems, there is more potential for uncertainty, chance, and unplanned outcomes that are contrary to your dreams and goals. On the other hand, if your business is a carefully planned organization with the right systems in place, success is only a matter of time.

Imagine being able to step away and completely disconnect from your business for days…heck, months at a time, and know that operations are running smoothly, employees are doing what they are supposed to do, customers are being served, and you are making money.

Are you bleeping serious? That would be phenomenal!

This website is dedicated to teaching business owners how to be business designers. It will provide the tools, resources and training necessary to teach you how to methodically approach your business and design systems for every aspect of what your business does. It will teach you how to implement those systems throughout your entire organization so that it runs like a finely tuned clock.

You might be wearing several “hats” in your business right now – the salesman, the accountant, the specialist…every hat but the most important, the designer hat. If you can put that hat on for even a couple hours a week to work on your business instead of in it, you will start seeing some positive results.

I will be upfront with you, it’s not always fun or easy to design and implement systems…but it is the result you are after, and that is what will inspire you to keep going!

Welcome to Systems for Success.

Stay tuned…
